Brian J. Hodes, D.V.M.Owner
Dr. Brian Hodes is a 2011 graduate of Kansas State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine. He is currently an owner of the Rose Hill Veterinary Health Center, in Rose Hill, KS. His caseload is comprised of about 50% large animal and 50% small animal. Dr. Hodes’ main interests are cow/calf medicine, large animal sports medicine and small animal orthopedic surgery. Dr. Hodes is dedicated to giving back to the local community, and volunteers his time to the local Butler and Cowley County 4-H programs/county fairs. He also volunteers each year at the KSU birthing center for the KVMA at the Kansas State Fair. Dr. Hodes is the current veterinarian on duty for the Little Britches Rodeo at the Mattox Arena, PRCA rodeo at the American Royal, all livestock events at the Kansas Star Arena, and both MOPACA and the Alpaca Futurity at Kemper Arena. He is also currently a KSU Veterinary Alumni Board member, KVMA board member and student mentor. Dr. Hodes is also part of the Kansas Animal Response Team. Dr. Hodes spends his free time fishing, at K-State football games, and running with his dog Miki.
Jessica Hodes D.V.MOwner
Dr. Jessica is a 2003 graduate of Andover Central High school, and was born and raised in the area. She spent her childhood years cultivating a love of people, pets, and veterinary medicine. She also has a love for horses, and spent many years showing American Saddlebreds. In 2003 Jessica rode for Team USA in South Africa at the Saddleseat World Cup Invitational, and also won several World and National Titles here in the United States. In 2007 she received a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Kansas State University, and met Dr. Brian Hodes, who is now her husband. Both Jessica and Brian attended Kansas State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine together, and graduated in May of 2011. While in veterinary school, Jessica focused her efforts on equine medicine and surgery, and studied as much equine coursework as she could. In the fall of her senior year, she was selected as Kansas State University’s veterinary student representative to work alongside the veterinarians in charge of the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games in Lexington, KY. She was also an extern at several major equine referral practices, including Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital in Lexington, KY (emphasis in lameness and podiatry), and Glenwood Veterinary Hospital in Glenwood Springs, CO (emphasis in field service and emergencies).
Jessica is interested in all aspects of veterinary medicine, with emphasis in equine and small animal medicine and sof t tissue surgery, equine lameness and reproduction, ophthalmology, emergency/critical care, and neonatology. She has a variety of animal family members, including her 3 horses, miniature mule, 2 dogs, and 3 cats. Jessica enjoys riding and showing her horses in classical and western dressage, as well as hanging out at her favorite vacation spot in Crested Butte, CO.
Ryan Tanner D.V.MAssociate
Dr. Ryan Tanner was born and raised in the area and grew up in Derby. He cultivated a love of animals throughout his youth by spending his free time exploring the woods, catching frogs, snakes, and turtles around the neighborhood pond, and caring for many different species of pets. He completed his undergraduate studies at Northeastern State University, where he received a Bachelor of Science in cellular biology with a minor in chemistry and was both an all-conference and all-academic soccer player. Initially intending to apply to medical school, he spent an afternoon shadowing Dr. Brian and Dr. Jessica on a whim and fell in love with veterinary medicine. He received his doctorate of veterinary medicine from the Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2017. During his time at KSU-CVM, he was selected for inclusion in the Phi Zeta Veterinary Honor Society and received the Anesthesia Excellence Award and the Dr. Wayne and Druecillia Burch Memorial Award for proficiency in food animal medicine and surgery.
Though Ryan enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine, he has a special interest in internal medicine with emphasis on neurology, cardiology, and endocrinology, as well as soft tissue surgery, exotic animal medicine, emergency medicine, and equine primary care. Ryan resides in Derby with his wife Leslie, where they share their home with a Labrador named Jasper, tortoises, turtles, snakes, and a bearded dragon. He enjoys sports and hiking, as well as dabbling in music writing, graphic design, and architecture.
Natalie McTaggart R.V.TRegistered Veterinary Technician
Natalie McTaggart is a 2004 graduate from Colby Community College with an Associate in Applied Science, Veterinary Technology. Natalie has worked in many aspects of the veterinary field including, feedlot health management, large exotic animals, and small and large animal. Natalie is very passionate about her career field and continues to expand her knowledge to better assist the veterinarians and provide a high level of care for both the clients and patients. Natalie is currently working on her Veterinary Technician Specialty in Equine Medicine. When not at the clinic, Natalie has an active dog training business for obedience and field trial dogs, and competes in Dressage and 3-day Eventing with her BLM Wild Mustang.
Jordan Bird has worked in the veterinary medical field as a front office personnel since 2014. She is married to her high school sweet-heart and has 3 beautiful girls. Jordan enjoys spending her free time boating, camping and fishing out on the lake with her family and friends. Jazz, Dakota and Duke are Jordan’s furry family members. Jazz is a pug and Dakota and Duke are her husband’s water fowl dogs. Jordan has a beaming smile and warm personality that will light up a room, welcoming anyone who comes through the front door.
